Sorry for the abrupt ending. I wrote this a few days after returning from the Bahamas and just finished it now, but many things have escaped my memory.

I am finally back from the Bahamas and Florida. It was a nice break from life in general--I promised myself I would not bring a single textbook (and I didn't). Normally, I like chronological overviews, but let's switch it up this time. Say hi to the bolded headings again. It's been a while.
The Drive
Nothing special here, unless you count an 18 hour drive to be fun. Usually, chatting in the car will suffice, because my family is known to be pretty derpy. Something always comes up. The entire family dynamic can piss you off and make you smile and cry and laugh...all at the same time.
Boarding, Food, Shows
Boarded ship. Ate food. I must be so acquainted with Chinese food that I still miss it...even though there's so much good international cuisine aboard.
Breakfast: omelette and yogurt. The omelette completely reminded me of Vanderbilt, although I liked the ship's omelette better because they put in all the toppings while the egg was still really liquid-y. The scents flow better that way, you know? Cook the flavor in. And the yogurt. I ate one spoonful and thought of Germany. SO GOOD. Then I looked at the label: Product of Germany. Of course, I recognize amazing German yogurt anywhere.
I was also pretty impressed with the presentation of the food. Normally, I don't spend a lot of time trying to make my food look good. As long as it tastes good--that's all that matters to me. But really, they did a great job. Puff pastry swans with ice cream and the fruit arrangements :)
We also watched the Welcome Abroad show, presented by Motor City. The cast had 3 men and 4 women, dancing to 90s (I think?) music. The flashy costumes fit the time period. But then they started singing Respect while dressed in...clothing that wouldn't really result in that. Oh man, I never get these things.
Anyways. Isn't it ironic that people want respect and then do all the things possible to cancel it out? Aretha's voice though, is timeless.
Towel Animals
Every night when we got back to our cabin, there was a new towel animal sitting on our bed. I didn't realize they were animals at first, but later, they became so cute I didn't even want to unwrap them, haha. First we got a teddy bear, then a puppy, then a lobster.
I later learned how to make them at one of the events on board--we made an elephant and a puppy. But when I saw how they made the puppy's head, I realized that someone's mouth had to have been on our towels...um...hopefully they were skilled and used their chin/neck to hold the towel in place instead? Hahaha, who knows. They say that when you work with kids, you learn to not be a germaphobe real quick. I'm not so sure about that. Let's just say I'm not a germ freak, but I still have my boundary lines.
Mini Golf
I now understand why some people love golf. Some say it's a sport for old people. Others say it's a sport for the wealthy. Well, I think it's a sport for the patient, controlled, and somewhat calculative people. Definitely not to be underestimated!
Sun and Stars
My dad loves the sun and stars...I guess it runs in the family. We all love looking at God's fingerprints everywhere. We woke up early in the morning to see the sunrise and stood on the deck for 4 hours...doing absolutely nothing except peering out on the deck. Sometimes, vacation is about relaxation, right? There's not a point in making hectic tourist plans all the time.
The Bahamas Island
We went to the zoo and Paradise Island. My parents were happy to be back on an island, but they weren't super impressed since they grew up on a similar island in China. It even felt like China sometimes--I have never said "no, thank you" so much in my life (other than while in China). Hairstylist: "Daddy, would you like to have your princess' hair braided?" No thank you. First of all, braid what? I barely have any hair on my head suitable for braiding. Second of all, don't even try to guilt trip. Hahaha, Asians aren't always used to that kind of language, you know? I do have to say though, all of the people in the tourism industry there gave us our money's worth and did not try to scam us into anything.
I guess if you went scuba diving or to their main water park the Bahamas would be more interesting. In general, my family loves the beach, but if you grew up on an island, you know you don't really ever view the beach like a tourist. You don't go necessarily go there everyday.
I probably will not go on a cruise that only goes to the Bahamas in the future, but we'll see. Cruises can be fun, but I am definitely more of a hands-on exploring type of person. I don't like being in a ship for no reason other than to enjoy food and entertainment, but that's just me.
My grandpa was a ship captain, and I guess he liked it because well, he was actually doing something very purposeful. He likes to tell us stories about the pirates (yes, they do exist) that he encountered near Somalia.
