Through these two decades + 1 year of life, I have realized one thing: annual resolutions are useless. Coupled with my can't-ever-stay-quiet mouth (I know, some people would actually be shocked that I say this), I decided I'm only working on one thing this year--humility. This word rang in my head on 12/30/15, and two days later, I came across a devotional called "One Word" on my Bible app. It asked us to choose one word to work on, and that was the moment I knew that God wanted me to work on humility.
In my whole life, I've only heard two sermons that said pride was the root of all sin. I wonder why only two, and why this subject isn't spoken about more. Perhaps it's because it hurts to talk about it. But it's often the things that hurt that even matter in the first place. So I decided that humility is my word this year. And it will probably continue to be the word for many more years, if not every year, to come.
I recently came across this chart, and I love it because it gives real life examples of how humility can be practiced. This is taken from another blog, which can be accessed here.
Biblical humility can be so different from what we think of as humility. Two quotes that I really like:

Pride is concerned with who is right. Humility is concerned with what is right. (Ezra Taft Benson)
Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. (CS Lewis)
