To the Chinese Media

Sometimes, I really hate the Chinese media for spreading false information. Today, my mom was surfing the web, and came across a ridiculous article which stated that GAP (the clothing brand) was for homosexuals. So my mom asks me, "Is GAP for gays and lesbians?" I stared at her blankly. Quite frankly, I was surprised she asked such a question. Hadn't I shopped there before?

When I was younger, I loved to shop at GAP (because I thought the hoodie sweaters were so comfortable :D), and I am certainly not lesbian. Now, whether I support homosexuality is a different question, but just to throw it out there:

Since I am Christian, I don't believe in homosexuality. I know there are some people who say that you can be homosexual and Chrisitian, which I think is true. However, will I go and fight for the rights of homosexual marriage? No. But will I bash at and trash talk homosexuals? No. Will I befriend homosexuals? Yes, as long as there's no PDA when I'm around (but I don't appreciate PDA either way). They are people too, right? Some people seem to think that all Christians are homophobic or hate gays. That is far from true. I live in ultra liberal Montgomery County though, so maybe that's why lots of people look down on me for not supporting homosexual rights.
I don't retaliate much, but hey, if those people thought I was narrow minded, then aren't they also narrow minded for thinking that I am?

Anyways. The media can say what it wants.  In China, the stupid thing is that some (not all!) people believe everything they see in the newspaper..just because the government wrote it. This is the one time I'm thankful that my English class taught me to consider author background and point of view :)

P.S. If you are wondering why I didn't post about the AFS picnic, it's because I ended up not going.
P.P.S. If you are wondering why I don't know where I'm going yet, it's because I haven't gotten my host family.

I'm glad to know that the US is sending such narrow-minded people to represent their country in Germany. Seems fitting, you live right up to our expectations!

      Hi Lara,
I'm sorry if this post came across as rude. I was simply stating my opinion and my values; you are free to disagree. Have a great day!
