Summer can, unbelievably, actually be a stressful time for people who grew up under concerted cultivation. What do we do with this unstructured time? When people ask me what I do, it may seem like each of my actions and activities are pointless...but there is definitely a point to everything.
a) Time With God: Besides reading the Bible and just chilling in the Spirit of God, I really like these daily devotions from Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest. Today, I came across this, and it just really hit home. Those words are just so true. What common sense? Hahaha. I have none. More like I do, but I have to cast it aside more often than not. My logic totally makes sense, but I don't think other people see it that way. It's okay though.
c) Watch: Well, I guess I need to keep my Chinese up to par so I don't lose it. Right now, my favorite show is this. It's like Model UN but for culture related topics. Best thing ever. I also love this. And. I am such a huge fan of this interview. Jack Ma is hilarious.
d) Write: Blog time. I need ample of time to reflect as usual.
e) Explore: Need to prep for nerd camp activities. Hello cheap budget DIY projects and brainstorming for games! I'll do anything, but I refuse to be a referee for sports. Never ever throw a frisbee or a ball at me. Or worse yet, that time when my little brother tackled me as a way of saying "HI!" in high school. Poor child didn't know how much momentum he had in his run despite his tiny body. Little children tend to not know how much power they have. Especially in their teeth.
f) Search: I like searching for different internships and analyzing trends of the job market. That way I know what's out there and have a better idea of finding a good niche in this vast world of opportunities. I usually end up thinking, "This is the perfect job for (insert someone that's not me)." Oops. In general, I like looking at jobs that have nothing to do with my field. I like seeing those connections. Who knows? Maybe one day there will be a kid who is very interested in job option X. I want to be able to have some knowledge in that.
g) Listen: Just looking and listening to the world in ways that don't make sense to people. I enjoy the little things. It's almost always the little things.
h) Learn: Well, my grandpa is already having me stay with him while my family goes to Beijing. According to him: "What's the point of you going there? You've been there before. The pollution is bad, and your lungs are not like other people's." Thanks for your consideration...
Instead, it looks like I will be learning cooking from him (he cooks better than my mom, but I never said this :D), doing calligraphy/painting at some point (he's so good at this--I missed the gene, again), and learning Cantonese (he's fluent--guess that's what you can expect from a former businessman in China).
i) Move: Move, as in...exercise. If I don't do this, my spine is going to crack in half. Most people don't have to deliberately exercise, but if I don't, I won't be able to function. It stinks, but that's what I get for being born in the way that God chose! I have really nothing to complain about. I'm already so blessed.
j) Observe: People's lights. Usually, I don't do this deliberately, it just shows up because it spills into other people's space.
k) Plan: I will surely be planning how to kill my time at the airport. I have a flight that leaves in the early AM, and I cannot fall asleep till I get on the plane to HK. Otherwise, I will never fix the jet lag.
I'm not a huge fan of exploring the shops...I'll probably make some kind of educational activity out of my 5 hours at the airport. I already have an outline for where to put math, geography, architecture, and sociology. I don't consider literacy as a subject because it's literally in every "subject." Sigh, I don't like the term "subject" because everything is connected. You don't just engage in a "subject" at school. Anyways, I rant too much. I'm still trying to think where I'd put the science inquiry section, haha.
Now I'm being forced to go to bed because it's almost 2 AM and we need to go...shopping tomorrow. Dear engineers: please program me a robot that can choose an outfit for me in a matching way that is in accordance with the weather and my mother's Mood of the Day hahahaha.
Oh, but I actually appreciate it.

In the spiritual realm, Jesus Christ demands that you risk everything you hold on to or believe through common sense, and leap by faith into what He says. Once you obey, you will immediately find that what He says is as solidly consistent as common sense.b) Read: I mean, we finally get time to read something that isn't a textbook! And yet, I'm still reading textbooks. They are really interesting though. I'm currently reading something on marketing and anatomy/physiology. One of them is for my class next semester, and the other is just for general knowledge. I still hold to my belief that teaching is just like marketing. If it doesn't start with the why and move out to the how, it will not sell. I also like to keep up with blogs of various sorts.
